All major scholarships can only be won once by any given participant.
Rotary Club of St Thomas Vocal Music Award - Intermediate ($500)
For Vocal entrants to qualify for the final competition for this award, they must have performed at least two selections from the designated Section 4.40 and achieved a mark of not less than 85% in two of the adjudications. The winner is determined as a result of the performances at the Major Awards Competition of a selection which entitled them to enter this competition.
Harry Vreman Memorial Scholarship - RCM Grade 8 ($300)
For Piano participants to qualify for the final competition for this award, they must have performed at least two selections from the designated Section 7.14 or 7.27 and received a mark of at least 85% in two of their adjudications. The winner is determined as a result of the performances at the Major Awards Competition of a selection which entitled them to enter this competition.
The Stephanie Leung Memorial Scholarship and Trophy - RCM Grade 9 ($500)
For Piano participants to qualify for the final competition for this award they must have performed at least two selections from the designated Section 7.15 and received a mark of at least 85% in two of their adjudications. The winner is determined as a result of the performances at the Major Awards Competition of a selection which entitled them to enter this competition.
The Stan and Sybil Hagerman Scholarship - RCM Grade 10 ($500)
For Piano participants to qualify for the final competition for this award, they must have performed at least two selections from the designated Section 7.16 and received a mark of at least 85% in two of the adjudications. The winner is determined as a result of the performances at the Major Awards Competition of a selection which entitled them to enter the competition.
The Doris Evans Award - RCM Associate ($1,000 each)
For Piano and Vocal participants to qualify for the final competition for this award, they must have performed at least two selections from the designated Sections 4.41 or 7.17 and received a mark of at least 85% in two of the adjudications. The winner is determined as a result of the performances at the Major Awards Competition of a selection which entitled them to enter the competition.
Exley Performance Bursary For Bands
This bursary of $150.00 was established by Frank and Cheryl Exley and is awarded to all bands that perform in the festival. It is intended to assist with costs associated with transportation and sheet music. The funding may be provided annually following the performance of the participants.
Speech Arts Bursary For Schools
The bursary of $150.00 was established by Sue Green who is passionate about continuing with this form of participation. It is intended to assist with costs associated with transportation for each school that enters a Speech Arts class. It may be provided annually following the performance of the participants.
Speech Arts Award
A$200 award will be presented to the top performer in a Speech Arts class (highest mark as determined by the adjudicator). This award is donated by Sue Green, a retired teacher who values the inclusivity fostered through this style of ensemble performance.
Harrington-Catchpole Award
There will be two awards of $100 available; 1) to a student, duet, trio, quartet, or quintet; and 2) to an ensemble or orchestra. To qualify, participants must have performed at least two selections in the String Section and achieved a mark of 85% or higher in two adjudications.
Malcolm Beckwith Memorial Voice Scholarship
The recipient will receive an award of $75. There is no specific age, level of study, mark, or achievement requirement. The scholarship is bestowed upon a singer who embodies the love and joy of singing.
Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation Grant
(formerly Doris Evans Music Student Fund) The Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation maintains and administers the "Music Student Fund" to support students and schools requiring financial assistance for registration related to the St. Thomas Music Festival. Music and school teachers who prepare students for festival participation are eligible to request funding. Applications must be submitted by January 13, 2026, and will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Application forms are available on our website. Funds will be distributed after the performance has taken place.
The value of scholarships and number to be awarded may vary from past years. The Scholarship and Award Committee will consider the recommendations of the adjudicators and review the amount of funds available from Trust Funds, and on the donations for scholarships received from the community and will set the guidelines for Scholarships accordingly.
